Denmark to Hold General Elections on the 1st of November 2022

On November 1, 2022, Denmark will hold its general elections to the Danish Parliament. You can find information about the elections on the Danish Parliament’s website: Folketingsvalg 2022 / Folketinget (ft.dk)

Where to vote

Eligible voters in the region can cast their absentee votes at the Embassy in Pretoria without appointment within Embassy opening hours:

  • Monday 0900-1600
  • Tuesday – Thursday 0800-1600
  • Friday 0800-1400.

It is also possible to vote at our honorary consulates in the region. Voters must book an appointment before voting at any of the Honorary Consulates. Contact information for the Honorary Consulates can be found here: Danish Consulates (um.dk)

Who can vote
More information on the voting rights of Danes abroad can be found here:
Udlandsdanskeres valgret (im.dk)

When to vote

There is no fixed deadline for voting abroad. However, votes must be cast early enough to arrive at the relevant Danish municipality before the polling commences in Denmark at 08:00 on the 1st of November 2022. We therefore strongly recommend that votes be cast no later than the 20th of October 2022. It is possible to vote after this date, but it cannot be guaranteed that these votes will reach Denmark in time.

PS! Valid Danish picture ID must be presented.
