Danish Company AVK Opens State-of-the-art Facility in Gauteng

14.09.2016  13:43

Wednesday 7 September; Ambassador Trine Rask Thygesen participated in the official opening of the new AVK Valves Southern Africa state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Alrode, Gauteng. The plant covers 5700 square metres and includes a training facility, where AVK hopes to train candidates this year on how to consult and install valves correctly. In Denmark we have a strong tradition of public and private sectors working together to tackle socio-economic issues, and AVK’s new facility is a great example of how private sector can be part of the solution to increase water security in South Africa.

At the opening, the Ambassador underlined how public and private cooperation between Denmark and South Africa in the water sector has grown since the signing of respectively the  MoU as well as the Strategic Water Sector Cooperation programme since November 2015. In 2014-15 exports of Danish water technology increased by 44 % in South Africa, and the well-functioning partnership within the water sector offers Danish companies a strong platform to establish their know-how and technological solutions in South Africa, as AVK Southern Africa has now demonstrated.
