06.02.2013  13:27

On February 5th the Danish Ambassador, René Rosager Dinesen, attended the seminar “New Ambassadors – New Brooms” organised by the Nordic-South African Business Association at the Radission Blu Hotel in Johannesburg.

The seminar was an opportunity for the business community to meet all four Nordic Ambassadors to South Africa at the same time. Likewise, the Ambassadors had the opportunity to express their respective views on the Embassy’s new roles in a changing global world and in South Africa in particular. Today the top priority for the Embassy of Denmark is in fact business and investment support.

Ambassador Dinesen said that his Embassy was open for business and he emphasised the importance of having an open hearted and practical dialogue with the business community. In addition he pointed out that he is actively pursuing a growth strategy of increasing the export from Denmark to South Africa with 50 per cent well before the official deadline in 2017.

At the seminar the participants from the Nordic-South African Business Association raised a variety of questions to the Ambassadors including the European Union, regional integration in SADC, agricultural development, the South African labour market and national education plan, the Nordic welfare model and flexicurity, and cultural corporation between the Nordic countries.
