René Rosager Dinesen, the new Danish Ambassador in South Africa, delivered his letter of credentials from Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark to His Excellence President Jacob Zuma on 3 September 2012. The ceremony took place at the Presidential Guesthouse in Pretoria – after the Ambassador’s inspection of the Guard of Honour.

The close cooperation and cordial relations between South Africa and Denmark was emphasised by the President. Denmark had been one of the strongest supporters during the struggle for freedom and equality during the Apartheid years – and had remained a very close partner to the new democratic South Africa. The comprehensive Danish development assistance was much appreciated.

Ambassador Dinesen managed to do his introduction in fluent Zulu – the mother tongue of the President. Throughout the ceremony the Ambassador was accompanied by his wife Mrs Camilla Follin Dinesen.
